FAQ

The eight questions we hear most

All asked by customers before implementation. Answers are written against the current version and updated as it changes.

Does error-proof loading need extra hardware?

Depends on the level. PDA error-proofing needs only an industrial PDA — the lowest cost; a wrong reel prompts on the PDA and locks the machine. A PDA plus a monitoring PC adds feeder comparison and forced verification. Only with a line-stop controller can wrong material actually stop the line. Choose by how much wrong material the line can tolerate, not by the highest level.

Can the system integrate with our existing ERP?

Yes. Orders, work orders, material master data and inventory are the four common integration points. Where an interface exists, use it; otherwise use a staging table or scheduled file exchange. Before integration, confirm that material codes on both sides map one-to-one — if that fails, nothing downstream works.

How do you capture data from old equipment with no interface?

Three cases. Serial or Ethernet ports go through protocol parsing; units with only IO signals get a capture card reading digital states; with no output at all, at least record the routing action and use scanning in place of equipment signals. Not capturing parameters does not mean the line cannot be managed — routing records alone support traceability.

Can we keep our existing barcode rules?

Yes. The system does not force a change; configure parsing for your current rules. What to confirm is whether the barcode carries work order, part number and batch — whichever is missing has to be entered in the system, and that slows the floor down.

Can the line keep routing when the network is down?

The client caches locally: routing and error-proof checks continue offline and upload automatically when the network returns. Cross-work-order material and stock queries are unavailable offline, so plan those for connected periods.

How long is traceability data kept?

By default nothing is deleted. When a table reaches tens of millions of rows it is archived by year; archived data stays queryable through the history database. Retention is ultimately set by the customer's system documents, and the system follows that configuration.

How are clients upgraded?

Update packages and release notes are provided by version in the download section of this page. Unzip and overwrite into the MES program directory. Stop the service and back up the database first. Do not overwrite directly across major versions — read the database change scripts in the release notes first.

How much can changeover time be cut?

It depends on how much of the current changeover goes into finding material and checking it. Once the feeder placement table, reel labels and loading error-proofing are connected, material search largely disappears; the remaining changeover is machine setup, where the system cannot help. The actual gain has to be measured on site.
